The Rock, as we've established, is wonderful, but the Beatles wrote 'Wild Honey Pie', David Lynch directed 'Dune', and you once thought AEW signing Jake Hager was embarrassing you bias mark prick that's some TNA sh*t lol.

We all make mistakes.

And Rock made a mistake with the whole 'Boots 2 Asses' deal because it was both basic and nonsensical. It was perhaps intended as a rallying cry, to get fans on his side ahead of his match against John Cena at WrestleMania XXVIII, but it wasn't particularly necessary. WWE could have brought Heidenreich back, and hardcore fans would have cheered him over SuperCena in Miami.

Also: Asses, plural? He put the boots to three asses in that first run, tops, but "six boots to asses" doesn't have the same ring. It's difficult to even bury scathingly because it's so weirdly generic. Boots 2 Asses? It's another, fairly '90s way of saying "I'm going to kick your ass" which is better fare for the gritty badass babyface than the most charismatic man alive.

Was it successful?

Yes, because a record number of wrestling fans ordered a pay-per-view to see John Cena get knocked off his f*cking perch.
