10 Wrestlers Who Got Injured At The Worst Possible Time

3. Mr. Kennedy

Up-and-coming Smackdown superstar Ken Kennedy had already suffered one major injury before the company decided to give him the win in the 2007 Money in the Bank match, but WWE's top brass still believed in him. The briefcase all but guaranteed he would be a world champion someday, and as Kennedy promised to cash it in at 2008's WrestleMania XXIV, it looked like his reign might even begin in the most auspicious of ways. Plans changed in May 2007 when World Heavyweight Champion The Undertaker was injured, forcing a title change. Kennedy looked to be the likely candidate to capitalize - but he, too, was hurt, suffering a triceps tear that would keep him out of action for many months. In panic mode, WWE had Edge beat Kennedy for the MITB briefcase on Raw, then cash it in on Undertaker on the following Smackdown. Edge was now World Heavyweight Champion, and Mr. Kennedy just barely missed his run with the title. Luckily (or unluckily), Kennedy's injury simply turned out to be a hematoma, and he missed almost no time.
