10 Wrestlers Who Had Their Gimmicks Stolen

1. Sin Cara

This is the most recent example of a wrestler having their character blatantly stolen. Sin Cara was a hot prospect for the WWE. Signed in 2011, the former Mistico debuted with the company almost immediately. And almost immediately, things went terribly wrong. Sin Cara quickly became more well known for messing up his own moves than for his colorful character and high-flying style. Furthermore, the luchador was suspended just three months after his debut for a Wellness Policy violation. Despite his constant botching, Sin Cara was popular among younger fans. As such, WWE decided to continue to use the character on television but replace the man under the mask. The former Hunico began competing under the Sin Cara hood, and upon the original Cara€™s return, the two became embroiled in a feud over the gimmick. Ultimately, the original Sin Cara was able to defeat the impostor and send him packing. However, the tale doesn€™t end there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QcWUndhliI Earlier this year, the original Sin Cara -- Luis Urvie -- was released from his contract. Urvie has since returned to Mexico where he competes as Myzteziz -- as he had his original Mistico gimmick stolen, as well. Again, WWE decided to continue using the Sin Cara character, and Hunico has donned the mask ever since.
