10 Wrestlers Who Hate CM Punk’s Guts
7. Eddie Kingston
CM Punk’s first year in AEW was a whirlwind of successes in the eyes of most of the promotion’s fans. Coming in and starting off with a previously unconsidered dream match with Darby Allin, having an incredible feud alongside MJF… it’s easy to forget the barnstormer that was his one-and-done showdown with Eddie Kingston at Full Gear.
In many ways, it was a face-off that wrestling fans never thought would happen. Not just because Punk had been retired from the ring for so long, but because the two had genuine issues backstage that had allegedly stemmed from Punk making comments about Kingston’s workrate and weight on the indies.
So, when the two finally cut promos against each other, it felt real because there was true animosity between them.
Following the mini-feud, whilst he never went so far as to say the word “hate”, Kingston made it clear in an interview with Inside the Ropes that he and Punk were not on good terms.
“No. No, there’s no like there. He doesn’t like me, I don’t like him, and I don’t think that we will ever like each other. I’m just being honest with you, we are never going to see eye to eye and I’m not a very forgiving person. So no, I have no desire to be friends with him and he has no desire to be friends with me. We just do not like each other, and that’s it.”
