10 Wrestlers Who Hated Parodies Of Their Work

Of course, Arn Anderson wasn't the only Horseman sent up in that legendary 1997 angle.

Marcus Bagwell parodied Curt Hennig, but it was gentle. All he did was catch a towel, wear a ponytail, and mock the storyline in which he either was a Horseman or wasn't. It was in fairness difficult to mock Hennig. His WWF character was that of a flawless man, and the real-life guy was handsome, obscenely talented and purported to be a swell guy.

Ric Flair was rather easier to lampoon.

Ric Flair is the sort of man who'd burst into tears and embrace the postman when he didn't deliver something from the taxman and is, in general, one of history's most distinct and exaggerated beings. Sean 'Syxx' Waltman recognised the scope of the opportunity and extracted everything from it.

He wore a massive prosthetic nose, country club clothing woefully out of date by the mid-to-late '90s, said "Woooo!" after literally every word, and then pissed himself laughing because he knew how good it was. Then, with perfect comic timing, he melted into tears before Kevin Nash as Arn Anderson even started to look back on his career. Watman's Ric cried at the mere prospect of getting emotional.

Flair was pissed, naturally, and told Waltman this when they appeared together on a podcast in 2021. Flair resented the fact that the Horsemen weren't booked to respond, feeling it made them look weak, which, fair.
