The 2022 Royal Rumble wasn’t a total shambles. After all, we did get the bizarre sight of the Impact Women’s Champion entering the Rumble with the belt around her waist, the sort of thing that was unimaginable even a year ago. We also saw the return of Melina, a wildly popular performer from a previous era that was once called one of the best in the world by Bret Hart. If The Excellence of Execution is singing your praises, chances are you know what you’re doing.

Mickie James entered at number 20, lasted 11 minutes, eliminated Michelle McCool and was ultimately thrown out by Lita. Melina entered at number two and lasted all of 53 seconds.

Yes, Melina’s grand return to in-ring action in WWE after almost 11 years lasted all of zero minutes, 53 seconds. Legends baby!

Mickie James has since voiced her frustration with this, saying that she was disappointed she didn’t get to work with her former rival. The Impact Women’s Champion took to the GAW Podcast (which she hosts with Victoria and So Cal Val) to say that she didn’t love that part of the Rumble. Heck, why not go with the whole quote?

"It was so good to see her back. She hadn't been in WWE for over a decade, so I think that was amazing to see her get teared up, and it was awesome. I didn't love the whole 'set got eliminated first'. No, I didn't love that because obviously as I wanted to be able to get in there with her and tangle it up, and I want her to have those moments with some of the other girls, you know. I know it was special for Sasha, and I know Sasha, I know it was special for Sasha to be in there with her.”

Here’s hoping Melina is treated with a little more respect if she returns to WWE in the future.
