10 Wrestlers Who Hated WWE Royal Rumble Spots

Less a star being unhappy with a planned Royal Rumble spot, The Rock’s reaction to his return in 2015 was more the case of a company being totally blind to the desires of its audience. Following the climax of the Rumble match, winner Roman Reigns was having his nuts handed to him by Big Show (1995 debut) and Kane (1997 debut). For context, this would be like Greg Valentine and Jim Duggan putting the boots to Steve Austin following his ’98 Rumble win.

Luckily for all involved, The Rock came out to save Reigns and send the veterans packing. Seeing as it was The Rock, the crowd would obviously go batsh*t crazy, give Roman the seal of approval and all would be right with the world. Unfortunately, WWE lives in a fairytale wonderland, and the opposite sort of happened.

In 2015, the crowd booed The Rock. They hated Roman so much, they booed The Rock. The salvation of Roman Reigns was beyond even the interstellar talents of The Great One.

Needless to say, The Rock was less than happy with the reaction to his spot. Nobody boos The Rock! Dwayne Johnson is an international megastar, and being booed by thousands of fans is never going to be a good look. Thankfully it didn’t really harm Rock’s career, and it did approximately bugger all for Roman Reigns too. Fairly standard WWE booking then.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
