10 Wrestlers Who Have Hit The Glass Ceiling In WWE

2. Rusev

Rusev Return
WWE

Rusev blasted back to prominence on last week's episode of Raw, ending a post-WrestleMania 35 hiatus broken only for that pointless Super ShowDown battle royal back in June. It wasn't the comeback his fans would've been hoping for. Though Rusev's victory over Mike Kanellis was emphatic, it came following an impossibly lame "gender reveal party" for Maria K's baby, with 'The Bulgarian Brute' introduced as a red herring in the failed "who's the father?" storyline. It went down like a wet fart in a crowded elevator.

Any propulsion generated from this return won't last. If WWE ever planned on elevating the former United States Champion, they'd have done it back in late 2017/early 2018, when Rusev Day was the most over thing in the company. They didn't. Content to let Rusev Day fester away as nothing more than a t-shirt design and a chant, WWE let its popularity die.

The best that Rusev fans can hope for is that his moustachioed rebirth lasts longer than Robert Roode's earlier this year, when the former NXT Champion's singles push was cut off just six days after starting.
