10 Wrestlers Who Left Promotions With Nuclear Heat
7. Sable
Sable was a key talent in WWE’s mainstream popularity during the Attitude Era. Her appearance on the cover of Playboy remains one of the magazine’s best-selling issues, yet her initial run saw her walk away from WWE with a tone of heat, filing a $110 million lawsuit against the company.
She alleged sexual harassment and unsafe work conditions citing voyeuristic antics from males backstage, creative pressure for her to “accidentally” expose her breasts on live TV, and crude boy’s club conversations. The two parties settled out of court.
Legal issues aside, Sable was hugely unpopular backstage. This stemmed from her refusal to drop the Women’s Championship to Luna – despite the experienced wrestler essentially training Sable.
She also had heat with Sunny, though this is commonly acknowledged to be the result of mutual professional jealousy. Sable became paranoid that her fellow female wrestlers would gang up to attack and disfigure her, meaning she showered back at the hotel to limit interaction. Perhaps, the most explicit damnation came from Sean ‘X-Pac’ Waltman, who defecated in her duffle bag.
Sable didn’t help her standing in McMahon Land, by appearing on WCW Nitro on 14 June 1999, just four days after her departure.
