10 Wrestlers Who Lost Touch With Humanity
8. Shane McMahon
Shane McMahon's ego appeared no more out of control than usual at the 2022 Royal Rumble.
A brief run in the titular battle royal saw him out-strike Riddle, eliminate Kevin Owens and undersell a Brock Lesnar mauling. These moments plus the others he apparently pitched for backstage were enough to force Vince McMahon into sacking his own son, but 'The Money's been this out to lunch for years.
That 2016 return broke his already bizarre brain. An enormous pop, a WrestleMania 32 ticket sales boost and being positioned as The Undertaker's equals. These will do things to a normal man, let alone a McMahon, and the years that followed saw him mirroring AJ Styles for technical ability, The Miz for bloody-minded vanity and Braun Strowman for bravery.
Fans continued to pop for his theme and the theoretical promise of him falling from something extremely high, but that was the last of a fraying connection with the paying punters.
