Ask many wrasslin' old-timers for relationship advice and they'll all tell you the same thing. 'Keep your partner away from the business' comes the cry - the general belief is that life on the road and successful, healthy relationships just don't mix. They never have and they never will.

Typically for such broad statements like that one, this focuses on times things went wrong instead of applauding those who did it right. There are loads of pro wrestlers who are happily married. Some of them even wed peers from the same locker room, whereas others met people outside the industry bubble. Every single union examined here has one thing in common though.

The name in brackets was a fanboy/girl of the other at some point.

"Fanboy/girl" isn't meant as a dig. People are attracted to future spouses for a variety of reasons, and most relationships start up because one side pined after another. That's...kinda how it works, but not everyone can say their husband/wife was once the leading member of their own personal fan club.

Yes, that story is included here. Let there be love!

10. Jerry Lawler (Miss. Kitty)

Might as well start with a whirlwind romance.

Jerry Lawler was already a big star when he met 19-year old Stacy Carter at a charity softball game in 1989. That's right - nineteen eighty-nine. That, for those keeping score at home, was a full 11 years before the 'King' and the future Miss. Kitty got hitched.

Carter was a wrestling fan who'd attended the charity match with her mother. Mrs. Carter just so happened to be seeing one of the players from Lawler's team, so Jerry and Stacy got talking. Then, of course, she started attending some of his local wrestling events in the Memphis area.

By the late-90s, Carter was accompanying wrestlers to ringside on cards and living with Lawler. They got married in September 2000, but ended up splitting the following year after both had left the WWF. Kitty's backstage behaviour had reportedly irked many in the company, and Jerry followed his then-wife out the door.
