10 Wrestlers Who NEED A Huge 2024
3. Shayna Baszler
Without wanting to get off on an unduly negative foot: if you can be booked to beat Ronda Rousey, and subsequently still can’t get a push, it might be time to accept your company’s just never going to back you.
The strangest thing about Shayna Baszler is that WWE clearly knows exactly what to do with her; indeed someone who’s seen twenty minutes of wrestling would probably know what to do with her. Baszler has a legitimate fighting background, a scary aura, and a cocky, unkillable demeanour. So, like: let her do that.
When WWE has booked her thusly, in NXT and for the first three or so months of her main roster run, she was great. She had great title fights in her black and gold days, dominated a whole Elimination Chamber in hilarious fashion, and even bit a pregnant woman on TV. Ever since that ‘Mania loss, though, she’s stagnated.
It’s too late, bafflingly, to capitalise on the Rousey win, but Baszler so clearly offers something totally different on the roster that her lack of utilisation will always seem odd, no matter how many times they fumble.
