10 Wrestlers Who Performed Their Own Theme Songs

3. Basic Thuganomics - John Cena

John Cena's first truly great character was the Doctor of Thuganomics, a loveable heel persona who used cheesy rhyming to cut some truly memorable promos.

Sporting jerseys from the city the show was taped in, and a chain around his neck, the John Cena that captured the United States Championship, and ascended to the top of the company won the hearts of so many, and triggered a career that has rivalled some of the best in the business.

His entrance theme at the time, Basic Thuganomics, has attitude, mimicking Cena's moody, aloof gimmick with a catchy melody that is paired with abrasive rapping by Cena himself. It's a precursor to the vocals he would lend to the more famous The Time Is Now, and though the latter is far more iconic, the sound of Basic Thuganomics promises a more rebellious nature for the veteran performer.

Basic Thuganomics is a trip down memory lane for us twenty-somethings wishing for a heel turn on the horizon. It perfectly mirrors Cena's edgy origins, and with the character making some special appearances since it was shelved in the mid-2000s, hearing the tune at one of WWE's flagship shows is quite the treat.
