10 Wrestlers Who Purposefully Deceived Promoters

10. The Junkyard Dog

Vince McMahon saw money in The Junkyard Dog, and JYD spotted endless bounties of cash in McMahon's WWF operation. That's why, smack bang in the middle of a 1984 run on top in Mid-South, Dog left Bill Watts hanging and bolted to greener pastures.

Watts was understandably furious.

Jim Ross wrote in his second book that Watts repeatedly ranted about how Dog had upset the apple cart by walking out when he was booked in main events over the next few months - 'Cowboy' couldn't believe that JYD would do business that way, especially when Mid-South had given him so much and turned him from nobody into bankable box office attraction.

Junkyard Dog seemingly neither cared or wanted to clue Watts in on his plans. He was too interested in making a name for himself on the WWF's bigger platform, and obviously wanted to be part of McMahon's bold new national (and eventually global) business expansion.
