10 Wrestlers Who Quietly Retired
2. The Ultimate Warrior
The Ultimate Warrior was supposed to be the next major star of professional wrestling. He defeated Hulk Hogan clean in the middle of the ring in the main event of WrestleMania VI, a moment that was considered a symbolic passing of the overly-colourful superhero torch by many. Warrior's title reign was a failure however, and by late 1992 he was gone from the company.
After bouncing around between the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling for a few years, Warrior made his final appearance on TV on an episode of Monday Nitro in November 1998. The Disciple (Brutus Beefcake) was getting his botty handed to him by the nWo, and it was the Warrior who came to his rescue.
Nothing came of it however, and Warrior just retired. That was that. No fanfare, no final match, no big OTT goodbye. Warrior wouldn't return to wrestling until his WWE Hall of Fame induction in 2014, not including a strange one-off win against Orlando Jordan in Barcelona in 2008.
