6. Jerry Lawler

Jerry Lawler has been part of WWE for a quarter of a decade, offering color commentary and occasionally wrestling. Though both of those jobs have been scaled back in recent years, Lawler is still a part of pre-show analysis teams and the like.

In 1999, though, Lawler took a run at a more important job - mayor of Memphis, Tennessee. The so-called "King of Memphis" had been a celebrity in the city for decades, and he was hoping to turn that popularity into a legitimate political career.

Had Lawler won, he probably would have had to leave WWE, but it turned out that he didn't need to worry about that. Lawler ended up thrashed by incumbent Willie Herenton, though "The King" still managed to come in third place out of a field of 15 candidates. Lawler ran again in 2009, but came in fifth place with 4 percent of the vote.
