10 Wrestlers Who Shared A Signature Move (And Who Did It Better)
3. Diamond Dallas Page / Randy Orton (Diamond Cutter / RKO)
Most diehard wrestling fans are aware that the traditional cutter - or a three-quarter facelock bulldog, if you want to be all technical about it - is one of the most adapted and innovated moves in the history of the business. It's been modified and manipulated so that it can be delivered while rolling, during a springboard, or out of a Fireman's carry.
But the standard jumping cutter is still the most famous version, and two stand above the rest: DDP's Diamond Cutter and Randy Orton's RKO.
Because it was WCW, the Diamond Cutter had to be set up with some good ol' fashioned showboating, to give us stupid wrestling fans time to process something as complicated as falling to the ground with someone's head resting on your shoulder.
The RKO, on the other hand, can literally come out of anywhere. It wouldn't take long to convince me that Randy Orton was actually hiding inside the shark's mouth at the end of Jaws and his RKO is what actually kills Quint. For example.
Who Did It Better? Although DDP once performed his Diamond Cutter while he had someone up for a powerbomb, it usually lacked the height and velocity of Orton's sudden, spectacular jaw-breaker. Despite Page's proclamations, the RKO just had more bang to it.
The RKO wins this round, and not just because I'm afraid Randy might jump out of my keyboard if it doesn't.
