10 Wrestlers Who Should Replace Shelton Benjamin As SmackDown's New Star

9. Drew Galloway

MVP WWE United States Champion
David James Wilson/ICW

WWE didn’t know what they had on their hands with Drew Galloway.

Going from Vince McMahon’s hand-picked “chosen one” to a comedy rockstar jobber in just a few years, Galloway was green and unseasoned upon debuting, but has developed into an outstanding performer in his own right. His act was stripped back and taken away from him before WWE fans truly got a chance to see what Drew could do, and although he’s deeply-entrenched in TNA’s main event scene at the moment, there’s little doubt Galloway will return to Stamford someday.

SmackDown could use him immediately. A tall, imposing worker who’s great on the mic and no slouch in the ring either, Galloway has been on an absolute tear since his WWE release. Whether working for PWG or Scotland’s ICW, Galloway has never brought anything less than 100% to the table, and his performances have been as impressive as his growth has been staggering.

He’s a complete professional wrestler, and one tailor-made to make an impact on SmackDown.

Would Galloway trust WWE not to make the same mistakes again? That’s the big question. With Triple H’s increased power and the company’s newfound appreciation and acknowledgement of the indies, however, it’s safe to assume that his progress has not gone unnoticed.
