10 Wrestlers Who Took The Fall To Make Others Look Good
7. Bryan Danielson
When Bryan Danielson beat Kazuchika Okada at Forbidden Door, it's safe to say many fans were shocked by the outcome. Not because Okada is a better wrestler than Bryan (it's practically impossible to choose between the pair of them), but because Bryan has spent the latter part of his career enthusiastically putting over everyone ?????? himself.
Hangman Page's title reign needs a boost? Have him go over Danielson. Jon Moxley needs an opponent for the interim Heavyweight Championship? Have him go over Danielson. MJF's title reign needs a sacrificial lamb? Have him go over - who else - Danielson.
Honestly, such is Bryan's (clearly well-earned) reputation as one of the most selfless wrestlers to ever enter a ring, this writer wouldn't be surprised if he actually pushed for Okada to beat ??? instead. Either way, you can be certain Danielson went out of his way to thank the Japanese legend after the match, broken arm or not.
In a business that has an unfortunate history of breeding selfish performers, Danielson's refreshingly egoless performances are to be cherished. After years of selfless behaviour, seeing Bryan get a landmark win over a generational talent like Okada felt like just rewards for one of the greatest - in every sense of the word - to ever lace up a pair of boots.
And speaking of Okada...
