10 Wrestlers Who Totally Underprepared For Wrestling Matches
5. Kenny Omega Could Barely Lift Weights Before His Hangman Page Full Gear Classic
When it comes to getting their bodies into both visually stunning and all-round physically ready in-ring shape, a great many superstar pro-wrestlers opt to hit the gym in search of those vital gains.
And while Cody Rhodes perhaps went a little too far with the weights in the lead-up to his Hell in a Cell epic with Seth Rollins last year, his former All Elite co-EVP Kenny Omega unfortunately had no choice but do the complete opposite heading into another crucial main event war.
As Dave Meltzer would eventually report on the back of The Cleaner's defeat at the hands of Hangman Page at Full Gear 2021, the former AEW World Champion was actually working that match with next to no strength in his shoulders. In fact, Omega could reportedly only lift as heavy as the 45lbs bar in the gym before that contest, with The Elite star telling Dave "I can work a match without my shoulders."
All that being said, Kenny not being able to properly workout and maintain or increase the strength in his shoulders during his preparation for that eventual Hangman classic only made Omega's eventual five-and-a-half-star performance that bit more impressive to behold.
