10 Wrestlers Who Transcended The Business

7. Andre The Giant

As big as Andre The Giant was as a man, his place in history was even bigger.

Andre got his big break in America as part of the WWWF, a precursor to modern day WWE, and was treated like the company's top star.

The Giant was one of the first spectacles in wrestling and his star power earned him some fame in the mainstream. Alongside various other wrestlers, he appeared in the video for Cyndi Lauper's The Goonies 'R' Good Enough and, unsurprisingly, the eight-foot tall behemoth caught the eye of more than a few producers.

Andre is perhaps best known for his role in the 1987 cult fantasy film, The Princess Bride, in which he plays Fezzik.

The film has a huge following to this day and Andre himself was a big fan, allegedly carrying a copy of the film wherever he went so he could show it to people. And if Andre The Giant told you to watch his movie, then you were going to watch that movie.

Andre puts in a great performance in the film and probably could have had a very long acting career if health problems didn't dog his final years. However, fans will always have this wonderful movie to remember The Giant by.
