10 Wrestlers Who Were Secretly The Greatest Intercontinental Champions Ever

6. Cody Rhodes

A two time Intercontinental Champion, Cody Rhodes first won the title in August 2011 and retained it for 236 days. At the time, it was the longest run anyone had had with the title since Shelton Benjamin in 2004. Famously old school like his father, Rhodes helped bring a little prestige back to the Intercontinental Championship after a couple of years of the title being used as a prop for the lower midcard. He was never less than crisp and dynamic in the ring, and his heelwork and consistency in character was the work of a veteran ten years older. He even brought back the old classic white leather Intercontinental Championship belt design, making the company€™s secondary title stand out nicely from any of the others. Famously, Rhodes would win the title back from the man he lost it to, the Big Show, when the giant lost a tables battle at Extreme Rules in 2012€ by stepping through a table at ringside. Rhodes sold it like he€™d just ended Randy Savage€™s 414 day reign of terror at WrestleMania III, naturally€ right up until he lost it again, to Christian, three weeks later.
