10 Wrestlers Who Won Despite Taking The Finish

5. Stone Cold Steve Austin (St Valentine's Day Massacre)

It could be argued that Vince McMahon squandered The Big Show from the very beginning.

Multiple sources have shared the anecdote of McMahon peering over at The Giant during his WCW run and speculating on what incredible things promoter and performer could do together, but their first month together went so badly in storylines that it felt destined to go the same way in reality too.

As The Chairman's hired goon, Wight was a buffoon. His debut here - awesome as the visual looked - foreshadowed the missteps to come. With something resembling a choke and a throw, he launched a battered Steve Austin into a steel cage with such force that it gave 'The Rattlesnake' the victory over Vince McMahon and a clear path to WrestleMania.

Debuting him in a significant main event spot was huge, but profiling a flub didn't exactly promise dominance. The same followed in subsequent weeks in further interactions with Austin, McMahon and The Rock. Show was sat at the top table, but he always looked more likely to fall through it rather than actually dine.
