Ever since Gable Steveson signed with WWE back in September 2021, fans have not seen much of the Olympic Gold Medalist. A surprising selection in the 2021 WWE Draft, along with appearances at WrestleMania 38 and a one off SmackDown showing alongside Kurt Angle have left much to be desired from one of Triple H's highly touted prospects.

That all changed on NXT this past week when Steveson shockingly arrived and offered to train Eddy Thorpe for his upcoming Raw Underground matchup against Damon Kemp. While not directly mentioned, sharper eyed fans will know that Kemp, real name Bobby Steveson, is the older brother of Gable. While an on screen connection between the two brothers was inevitable, having the two feud, or even team up might not be the best way to utilize the inexperienced University of Minnesota Alum.

Much has been made about the in-ring progress, or lack thereof, of Steveson, with reports that WWE executives were disappointed how their first ever Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) prospect is developing. At the same time Diamond Mine has established themselves as one of the most entertaining acts on NXT, having gone away from the rigid training camp introduced under Roderick Strong. Having Gable Steveson join the trio of Ivy Nile, Brutus and Julius Creed can both bring the group to the top of the revitalized black and gold brand, and give the Olympic Gold Medalist a vehicle to start his televised in-ring career.
