10 Wrestlers Who'll Become WWE Champions For The First Time In 2017

5. Big Cass

It looks like WWE are pulling the plug on Enzo Amore & Big Cass as a tag team act for now. The ongoing Rusev/Lana story has seen Enzo slot into a more natural role as Cass’ mouthpiece, and while they’ll likely wrestle more tag matches in the future, this is a good direction for now. Enzo is one of the least developed wrestlers in the company, but one of Raw’s best talkers. He’s an ideal manager, and Cass, while far from perfect, is a convincing bruiser between the ropes.

WWE have already experimented with the idea of Cass as a singles star, first when Enzo was injured, and again when he was thrown into the Universal Title four-way in the wake of Finn Balor’s injury. Now that the Rusev feud is set to continue, we’re going to see a whole lot more of him on his own, and if he beats The Bulgarian Brute, a big push is surely on the horizon.

Storyline-wise, Cass shouldn’t even be in this spot. Enzo has been entirely in the wrong throughout his failed Lana courtship, and Cass is suffering for it. Enzo’s the kind of friend who gets you into a fight then holds your pint while you get down to business. This isn’t his fight to begin with, but confused logic aside, it has successfully positioned him as a potential breakout singles stay.

There’s no room in the main event scene at the moment, but a United States Title run would suit Cass nicely. That championship has become meaningless under Roman Reigns’ neglectful custodianship, and badly needs to change hands before its reputation is crushed forever.
