Gangrel’s ghoulish gothic gimmick is remembered fondly by Attitude Era devotees. David William Heath immersed himself in the Gangrel character and entrance. The gimmick was inspired by him and his wife at the time Luna Vachon watching vampire flick The Lost Boys one night and getting strongly influenced.

His entrance centred on him being raised up on the entrance way to a ring of fire surrounding him as his ominous theme played (his ‘Blood’ theme still being highly ranked on ‘Best Wrestler Theme Music’ lists). He grasped at a bloody goblet and maniacally made his way down to the ring, only to stop when stood atop the ring steps to take a sip of the goblet and splatter blood above him. He later formed The Brood with newcomers Edge and Christian (who are definitely not on this list given their incredible in-ring work later in their careers) and incorporated them in his entrance. As a trio The Brood's entrance looked drastically creepy. Edge and Christian have noted in recent years they were grinning throughout simply because how cool the entrance was.

Only issue was no one was ever interested in watching a Gangrel match. In the wild ‘90s WWF heyday, everything that came before and after a Gangrel match was usually entertaining stuff. It was just everything in-between that wasn’t. Seriously, it’s difficult to name what your favourite Gangrel match is.
