10 Wrestlers Whose Most Memorable Moment Was In Defeat

2. Bret Hart At Survivor Series 1997

Bret Hart had a magnificent career in WWE, but it was his last match as a full-timer in 1997 that was more memorable than any other moment of his career. With Hart set to leave WWE for WCW, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon knew that he had to get the WWE Title off Hart. It was fine with Hart, but he didn't want to lose the title to Shawn Michaels in Montreal because of the personal issue that had developed between the two superstars. Feeling as though his hands were tied (and wanting to send a message to Hart and the rest of the locker room), McMahon called for the bell to be rung while Michaels applied a Sharpshooter, screwing The Hitman out of the WWE Title during his last match in the company. The incident became known as the "Montreal Screwjob" and serves as an example that nobody is more important than the business - not even a loyal, selfless employee like Bret Hart. It's a shame that a moment like that is the most memorable in Bret's career because he accomplished many, many great things. However, it's impossible to ignore its significance as something we may never see again.
