10 Wrestlers Whose Most Memorable Moment Was In Defeat
3. Mankind (Mick Foley) At King Of The Ring 1998
The defining moment of Mankind/Mick Foley's career was when The Undertaker tossed him off the top of the Hell in a Cell at King of the Ring 1998. It was a legitimate 16-20 foot drop to the announce table, and the sight of Mrs Foley's baby boy's body sailing through the air was unlike anything we had ever seen before. Foley's other huge bump (because why stop at one?) in that match was when The Undertaker gave him a Chokeslam while they were on top of the cell, with the cage breaking and Foley bouncing off the mat below. He looked like he was knocked out or, possibly, dead. Amazingly, he went on to finish the match (while also interfering in the main event later that night) despite suffering a multitude of injuries. The Undertaker won the match relatively easily, but those bumps are what people will always remember and they also helped Foley become a much bigger star. What this match did was it made people love Mick Foley because of his willingness to put his body on the line to entertain us. Foley may have won some big matches in his career, but it's this loss that is synonymous with him, due to the performance he put on right before doing the J-O-B.
