10 Wrestlers Whose Weight Problems Became Gimmicks

10. The Natural Disasters

Few tag teams in wrestling were as physically intimidating as The Natural Disasters, who - at a combined weight of 846 pounds - were the heaviest WWE World Tag Team Champions of all time. John Tenta - who was so tall and large that he had to be named after a force of nature - had already become a top singles heel as Earthquake. When Fred "Tugboat" Ottman was added to the mix, he got the same treatment, taking the name of "Typhoon." The two dominated the tag team division, but were unable to win the titles - still, they ran roughshod over the competition during their heel run, which came to an end when their manager, Jimmy Hart, negotiated a World Tag Team Championship match for Money, Inc. Money, Inc. claimed the titles, but The Natural Disasters were so outraged at Hart's duplicity that they took on the new champs, becoming fan favorites. The Natural Disasters won the titles from Money, Inc. in July of 1992, holding the belts for four months. Though the two were only together for a year and a half, they cut such an imposing figure that they're often considered one of the top tag teams in an era when the competition was particularly stiff.
