The former reality T V star and current Intercontinental Champion has enjoyed a decent career in the upper reaches of the WWE card but, despite a seven-month reign, his time as WWE Champion will go down as a major disappointment.

The Miz actually defeated Cena to retain this belt at WrestleMania XXVII, but that doesn’t tell the history. Miz was on his way to losing until the Rock appeared and cost Cena the match. WWE had prioritised the forthcoming “One in a Lifetime” Cena vs. Rock feud over their top belt and top champion, completely undermining The Miz’s reign, and further degrading the belt’s importance.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Miz dropped the strap to Cena one month later at Extreme Rules. The Miz hasn’t come close to the WWE Championship since, and it’s unlikely he ever will.
