10 Wrestlers With The Most Five Star Matches
3. Toshiaki Kawada - 19
If you like the stiff kicks that NXT's Aleister Black brings to the table, you need to check out some of Toshiaki Kawada's work. 'Dangerous K' is one of the hardest hitting wrestlers the sport has ever seen. His strikes pack enough force to cave a men's chest (or skull) in, and his Kawada Driver and Dangerous DDT are among the most brutal looking moves you'll ever witness, but he was also a masterful in-ring storyteller, and a great seller too.
It almost goes without saying that Kawada had dozens of great matches with his fellow Four Pillars. In June 1994, he and Mitsuharu Misawa wrestled Dave Meltzer's second six-star match, which not only stands as the best contest of their legendary feud, but one of the most iconic puroresu matches of all time in terms of both action and imagery.
He and Misawa had a five-star singles bout in 1997, and Kawada did the same with Kenta Kobashi in 1993. He also formed one half of The Holy Demon Army with Akira Taue, producing a long string of first-class tag matches throughout the '90s, but as with the rest of his peers, the gruelling King's Road style eventually ground him down towards the end of the century.
