10 Wrestlers With The Worst Motivations
7. Swear Words Are Funny
1990s WWF might be famous for its conveyer belt of awful gimmicks, but don’t make the mistake of thinking that such idiotic ideas as Mantaur and TL Hopper were left in the past. Even with all the talent in the world available to them, WWE was almost as bad when it came to characters in the 2000s.
Take Rosey. Repackaged after a mildly interesting run as part of the Three Minute Warning tag team, the big Samoan was introduced as a sidekick for The Hurricane, WWE’s resident superhero. This achieved several goals, namely giving Helms someone to bounce off, creating a whole new tag team and also a viable babyface character for the Anoa’i family member. Being a Super Hero In Training wasn’t such a bad idea.
Except it was. The commentary team, as they are wont to do, forced the ‘Super Hero In Training’ thing down the throats of the audience. If you didn’t get it there, those initials were front and centre on Rosey’s gear. Yes, this entire thing happened because Vince McMahon and his creative goons wanted to get the word ’S.H.I.T’ on television.
This company, seriously.
