10 Wrestlers WWE Gave Up On In 2019

6. Cedric Alexander

Of all the talented, hyper-athletic undercard wrestlers to be "pushed" by WWE in 2019, Cedric Alexander is the least likely to bounce back. That's how big a hash they made of the former Cruiserweight Champion's attempted elevation.

It began with the laughably bad Gary 'The GOAT' Garbutt angle in which WWE effectively treated Alexander and Roman Reigns' quick loss to Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon as a victory because they'd "fooled" the heels. You show 'em, boys. Later, Alexander scored a win over McIntyre and popped the internet with a big dive in Reigns' Samoan Summit segment, then entered United States Championship contention, but was phased out after losing to AJ Styles. Not even 50/50 booking or the "cancelled" rematch clause could by the former Cruiserweight standout a reign.

Cedric is now back near the bottom of the pile. Recent Raw outings have seen him lose to Buddy Murphy and Andrade in single-digit runtimes, and he's now farting around with WWE's other abandoned wrestlers on Main Event. The "push," if you can even call it that, didn't work, making this one of the company's most half-hearted attempts at lifting somebody out of a lower midcard in years.
