10 Wrestlers WWE Has Given Up On

5. Apollo Crews

Apollo Crews embraced the potentially-calamitous decision to work a Nigerian accent last year. He put his all into the character from the off, and has tried his best to overcome the familiar 'hot or cold but no in between' WWE booking. Did that dedication get him anywhere? Nah, not really.

You could probs chuck Commander Azeez into this story too, but sheer physical size will land him at least one more gig in WWE once he eventually splits from Crews. Meanwhile, Apollo will either denounce his "Nigerian royalty" gimmick as a temporary blip and seek babyface approval again or continue faltering as an under-utilised heel.

That's a crap position to be in.

His Intercontinental Title reign was a miserable flop too. Nobody's blaming Crews for this - WWE seemed to feature him less after bagging the belt, which is astounding, and there wasn't much he could do about that. The promotion gave up on Apollo whilst he was still champ.
