10 Wrestlers WWE Should Never Have Allowed To Leave

5. Shelton Benjamin

Even though Shelton was with the WWE for 10 years (2000-2010), they totally missed the boat on this guy. He was an absolute elite talent in the ring, and as a face, was completely over with the crowd thanks to awe-inspiring performances. His obvious weakness was working a live mic, but there's another guy currently with the WWE that has the same problem, and was Shelton's old tag partner, Brock Lesnar.

Why the WWE didn't just give Shelton a manager is mind-boggling. He could have been a legit WWE Champion, but instead was a missed opportunity.

After he was released in 2010, Shelton joined Charlie Haas to reform the "World's Greatest Tag Team" in Ring of Honor. They became one of the best tag teams in the world, winning the ROH titles twice. Today, Shelton continues to work for New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Josh's work has been seen on Cageside Seats, Yahoo, and The Richest. If it's not pro wrestling, he's definitely thinking about cured meats and/or sushi, but never all three at the same time...that can get weird. Twitter: @HeelDoors
