10 Wrestlers You Should Be Most Thankful For This Year

4. Jay Lethal

Heading into 2015, Jay Lethal was one of the fastest-rising stars on the American independent scene. He was already among the longest-reigning Ring of Honor Television Champions in history, and a recent heel turn had made him the top member of the House of Truth stable. Still, fans hadn't seen anything. Lethal continued to defend the TV Title against all comers en route to picking up records for longest reign and most successful defenses, beating international superstars like Alberto El Patron and Tetsuya Naito. In June, he got a shot at the ROH World Heavyweight Championship and made good on it, capturing the belt and becoming a double champion. He would go on to defend both titles - sometimes on the same show - and though he lost the TV Championship in October, he's still the ROH World Champion. In an year where Ring of Honor has seen more New Japan Pro Wrestling involvement than ever before, Lethal fights for his home company, defending the most well-booked championship in the United States. Currently set for a showdown with AJ Styles at December's Final Battle, Lethal will remain a centerpiece of the promotion, making it all the stronger.
