The 1992 G1 Climax was an international affair. With the single-elimination tournament also being for the vacant NWA World Heavyweight Championship, over half of the participants were non Japanese.

One of the more surprising names featured in the gaijin contingent of the tournament was ex-Hart Foundation member, Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart.

Hardly a decorated singles competitor, Neidhart had spent the previous seven years of his career as the lesser talented half of a tag teams with his brother-in-laws, Bret and Owen Hart.

However, after being ousted from the WWF in early 1992, Neidhart was perfect American fodder for up and coming Japanese talent and was recruited by NJPW after a brief stint in early ECW.

Lasting a respectable 8:20, Neidhart did the job for the man who would go on to be the first to hold all three of puroresu's main heavyweight titles, Kensuke Sasaki.

Neidhart would then go on to team with Tom Zenk for NJPW's Super Grade Tag League in October, where the duo would accrue 0 points.
