8. Who William Regal's Actual Last Match Was Against

In the years since calling it a day in-between the ropes, William Regal has gone on to help shape the next generation of stars in NXT, enjoyed a spell in AEW, and has now returned to WWE as Vice President of Global Talent Development.

His final showdown involved the legendary Brit facing off against eventual Blackpool Combat Club pal Claudio Castagnoli (a.k.a. Cesaro), a match that aired on Christmas Day in 2013 during the NXT Rewind show. But it was revealed almost a decade later that this wasn't actually Regal's last hurrah.

Whilst talking on his Gentleman Villain podcast in 2022, the former Lord would explain that he actually had a match with Sami Zayn in 2014. This contest never appeared on TV, though, as it went down in Dubai during a tryout WWE were running at the time.

The pair battled in front of 30 people, with Regal then adding, "Two weeks later, my legs went from under me, which I told on Chris [Jericho's] show, and I would have my first neck surgery. I never wrestled again."

So, the answer to the question who did Regal take on in his final-ever match wasn't what most people thought for a good few years there. The Underdog from the Undeground technically had the honour of being the Brit's last dance partner, not Claudio.
