8. Tomko

The Problem Solver was a great addition to Christian’s act in 2004. He helped Captain Charisma stand out as a singles wrestler, and together they started to be featured more on TV. At one point, Christian seemed primed for the main event, but the rug was pulled out from under him, and he was brought over to SmackDown in the draft. Tomko was left without someone to protect.

On his own, Tomko wasn’t getting a lot of opportunities. He was given a bit of a mini-push until John Cena beat him two weeks in a row. A short team with Gene Snitsky soon followed, but it was clear management had no big plans for him. He asked to be released from his contract in 2006, and rejoined his old buddy Christian in TNA for another round of fun.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
