Alundra Blayze was at the heart of WWE’s attempts to revive their women’s division in the mid-90s, but was released as part of cost-cutting measures in 1995. This prompted one of the Monday Night Wars’ most controversial moments when, just a few days removed from leaving WWE, Blayze showed-up on WCW Nitro with the WWE Women’s Championship.

Reverting to her previous ring name, Madusa cut an awkward promo on her WCW debut, and publicly derided everything she’d accomplished in WWE. Then, she did the unthinkable by tossing the Women’s Title in the trash on live television, prompting huge outcry throughout the business, specifically from WWE, who blacklisted her for 20 years.

Madusa has since revealed that she wasn’t at all comfortable with the anti-WWE storyline, and had been pressured into this specific act by management. She stayed with WCW for six years, but her career was never the same, with Blayze claiming that the angle “ruined her,” and killed her reputation in the business. Madusa eventually buried the hatchet with WWE and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015, but her in-ring career fell apart 20 years prior.
