Inspired by his dying father, Luke Harper decided to give his pro wrestling dream a shot when he was only 20 years old. Just over a decade later, Harper was ready to quit the business, get a "real job" and knuckle down to provide for his heavily-pregnant wife.

Then, WWE came calling in 2012 and offered Luke a developmental contract. According to comments Harper made to Rochester First, that led to one of the toughest decisions of his life.

Harper had already told close family and friends (including his wife) that he planned to give up on wrestling and seek other sources of income. As soon as he landed back in the United States from a tour of Japan, he believed he was done, and that didn't change until WWE phoned.

The current SmackDown Tag and former Intercontinental Champion said he was ready to call time on slogging it out on the indy scene.
