5. Dusty Rhodes Lied To Get His First Wrestling Gig

Terry Funk thinks Cody Rhodes has already learned a lot from his father Dusty's business savvy simply by growing up with his genes. That's why, in an interview with Sports Illustrated, the hardcore legend said AEW will succeed and give wrestling fans a genuine alternative to WWE's homogenised product.

In the same interview, Funk told an amazing story about how Dusty would often try to get himself backstage at shows before breaking into the business. It didn't work at first, and Dust had to retreat back to his seat in the bleachers with his tail between his legs.

Everything changed when he used his gift of the gab to convince a local promoter that he had experience; when one of the wrestlers no-showed the event, said promoter began searching for a replacement. Enter Rhodes, who assured the guy that he had extensively wrestled "those Funk boys in Amarillo".

He hadn't, not according to Terry, but it worked and he got on the card. What a talker.
