Before her WWE tryout in 2014, Nia Jax was mindful of her family ties. It's well-known that she and The Rock are cousins, and owning that relationship is something Nia has come to terms with now she's made a splash on her own merits. Four years ago, the thought of using Rocky as a means to get ahead horrified her.

That's why she gave 'The Great One' a call.

She had one simple request of him: do not tell WWE, and please make sure to find out if anybody already knows before she attends the training camp. Obliging, The Rock kept his mouth shut, respected Nia's drive to make it on her own and asked WWE to keep things quiet.

Nia said during an appearance at theCURVYcon that her decision paid off when WWE coaches told her she was their top prospect at the end of the three-day camp. In her opinion, throwing around Rocky's name would've garnered her heat rather than helping her.
