Brock Lesnar is one of the most intimidating and supreme athletes in WWE today. Since returning in 2012, the former UFC Heavyweight Champion has been involved in some of the most believable and hard-hitting matches. Bursting onto the scene in 2002, Lesnar was clearly the promotion's pet project. Possessing all the tools in the world to be a top star, Vince McMahon wanted to build the future of the company around Brock.

This week, it was revealed that there were talks to give Lesnar a wholly unique character upon his initial debut. Looking to debunk stereotypes about the homosexual community, the then-WWF wanted to introduce the wrestler as gay. Far from being a jibe at his expense, the character would be promoted as dominant.

Details are sketchy, because the persona didn't make it out of creative meetings. It's an interesting idea, because WWE haven't always been one to shy away from stereotypes in the past. For many fans, it seems impossible that they'd treat the character seriously, without there being some comedy in there. The promotion's track record simply precedes them in that respect.
