The story of The New Day is an intriguing one. At first, the group were supposed to be inspirational babyfaces, clapping along with the audience and encouraging them to be positive. Vince McMahon envisioned the gimmick, but it fell flat with his audience, something Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods turned in their favour as heels.

Due to their consistently entertaining performances, New Day have turned back into babyfaces. Their ludicrous hip gyrations, 'unicorn horns' and other performance nuances have led to fans chanting 'New Day Rocks' right along with them.

For one WWE legend, ensuring that the team didn't get lost in comedy was important. Booker T told the This Is Awesome Wrestling Show this week that he gave The New Day some advice. Booker's words boiled down to making sure that Woods, Big E and Kingston are clowns outside the ring, but serious inside it.

In Booker's mind, New Day can be as silly as they want to be during pre-match segments, but they must come across as credible when the bells rings.

It's hard to argue with that logic, and even harder to argue with Booker T, a Hall of Famer who has pretty much seen and done it all in the business.
