At least for now, the recent run of Bill Goldberg in WWE appears to be over following his loss to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33. There may well be scope for more matches in the future, because the ex-WCW star's rapid fire bouts against Lesnar and Kevin Owens were undoubtedly more successful than many expected.

Talking via Bischoff on Wrestling, the former WWE Universal Champion opened up to discuss his private thoughts upon rejoining the company he had left in 2004. It didn't take much probing from Eric Bischoff before Goldberg was freely admitting that he had reservations and nerves when appearing on Raw for the first time last October.

This is something Goldberg has talked about in interviews before, but he hasn't lifted the lid on exactly what was going on in his head before stepping through the curtain; worried that he would fall flat on his face, the megastar told his former boss that he craved acceptance from the rest of the WWE locker room and desperately wanted to be liked.

Aware of the 'lone wolf' persona he had cultivated during his previous stint in the company, Goldberg wanted to change that perception, and that will to be accepted as one of the boys caused him to experience a huge amount of self doubt.
