Ravaged by nerves and wondering how he'd be accepted in the WWE locker room, a tentative Darren Young couldn't bring himself to come out as gay to his peers for many years. Eventually, he bit the bullet, and Young told Sean Waltman on the X-Pac 1, 2, 360 podcast that the sense of relief was overwhelming.

Recanting a story about his first days on the main roster, Young said that Mark Henry had giggled and said he "looked gay" due to his spiked hair style. Still unable to admit to his friend what he himself had known for his entire life, the Prime Time Player kept his mouth shut and mumbled meekly that he was just trying to stand out.

When Darren did eventually come out, it was Henry who approached him with a hug and an apology backstage. Young told Waltman that the 'World's Strongest Man' will have a chapter in his upcoming autobiography called 'Insert Foot In Mouth', and that it'll be all about learning how his buddy kept a secret due to fears of being cast out of WWE.

Henry wanted Young to know that he would never have judged him, and he just wanted his pal to be happy.
