10. AJ Styles Thought Claire Lynch Story Would Be Great
By far one of the worst storylines in TNA history featured someone who wasn't even on the regular roster. In fact, Claire Lynch wasn't even a professional wrestler, the character was simply an actress drafted in to presumably add drama to Impact Wrestling. Things didn't work out positively for the company, and the angle is still lambasted by fans to this day. The idea was simple, Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian wanted to antagonise AJ Styles. Looking to expose a supposed affair between Styles and Dixie Carter, the team rubbed their hands with glee upon learning that the pair had been secretly meeting to help out a woman called Claire Lynch. Daniels and Kazarian assessed that Styles was the father of the pregnant woman's baby. The story didn't appeal to fans, but Styles told the Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling podcast that he felt the angle should have worked. Initially, another actress was supposed to play the part of Claire Lynch, and she was more attractive than the one chosen. According to AJ, that would have helped proceedings, but the convoluted tale grated on TNA's audience rather than entertaining them.
