6. Mick Foley's Young Kids Have Lost Interest In WWE
On the Steve Austin Show podcast, Mick Foley explained his recent blog posts criticising the way WWE are doing things. Ever since retiring as a full-time performer, Foley has watched the promotion's programming as a fan. It's been an easy transition for the man, who stated to Austin that he has always been a wrestling fan and likely always will be. World Wrestling Entertainment are geared towards young children in the modern era. The 'PG' nature of the product restricts what the company can do in storylines, because they must meet certain criteria in order to appease child-friendly sponsors. This has long been a bone of contention amongst fans, and has even had an impact on wrestling fans in the Foley household. Telling Austin of the issue, Mick Foley said that both his 12 and 14-year old children have lost interest generally in what is being presented. That's a problem for WWE, because they should be attracting young people in that age bracket. If 14-year olds feel the programming is too dull, it's perhaps no surprise that ratings have been sagging this year. It seems like the disinterest of his children has had an impact on Foley too.
