10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Jan 1)

10. Wrestling Fans Called NYPD Due To Vince McMahon Angle

On this week's Raw one of WWE's big ideas was to book an angle which had Vince McMahon arrested and taken to prison. The storyline was classic McMahon, and isn't the first time he's been written to be in trouble with the law. During the 'Attitude' Era, Vince's Mr. McMahon character had several run-ins with the cops whilst feuding with Steve Austin. The pro wrestling world has changed dramatically over the past number of years with fans smarter than ever before. Whilst that's generally true to an extent, it didn't stop people from calling the Brooklyn branch of the New York City police department and asking for information on the arrest of Vince McMahon. That's right, people actually fell for the angle. As reported on TMZ, the Brooklyn police station received several calls from curious wrestling fans. It's insane to think that people seemed to believe that McMahon had actually been taken into custody, especially in an era when WWE have trouble keeping storyline and reality wholly separate.
